AFEdemy

Age-friendly environments, or more specifically, smart healthy age-friendly environments, promote independent living, digitalization, social inclusion, and more health and wellbeing. AFEdemy, Academy on Age-Friendly Environments BV provides research, training, advice, public relations and networking activities to citizens, municipalities, companies and academia. AFEdemy is involved in various projects at local, regional, national and European levels and makes use of its own long-term experiences with health, politics and IT solutions to offer tailor-made services on demand.

Willeke van Staalduinen

CEO
Willeke van Staalduinen is a master in political science and was a nurse in practice. She worked in the Dutch Parliament for several years as a policy officer and operated at a governmental agency concerned with the building of healthcare facilities in The Netherlands. After her work at the large research organisation TNO she co-founded AFEdemy, an Age-friendly environments academy in 2017. At this date, AFEdemy has a staff of 9 people working on the execution of EU Erasmus+ and Horizon projects on topics like social inclusion and smart built environments.
Javier Ganzarain

Javier Ganzarain

Javier Ganzarain holds a Computer Science Degree from the Basque Country University (Spain), and a Master of Science in Design and Management of Communication Systems, Centre d’Ingénierie des Technologies de la Communication (France and Spain). He has gained extensive international experience within various project management, ICT and healthy-ageing related areas. As co-founder of AFEdemy, he is responsible for information and communication technologies provision, design and development of easy-to-use and accessible e-learning platforms and websites, online training courses, certificates and interactive modules.
Jonas Bernitt

Jonas Bernitt

Project Officer / Researcher
Jonas Bernitt has a degree in sociology and history and has been working as a project officer at AFEdemy since November 2021. Among other things, he takes care of the creation of learning modules as well as the editing of reports and several other written tasks. He operates in various educational projects on topics such as age discrimination, racism, digital empowerment and data literacy.
