FUNDACIÓ URV

The Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV) is a public and comprehensive university made up of 24 Research Departments that welcome annually 12.000 undergraduate students, 2000 master’s students and 1.200 PhDs. Since then, URV has developed a successful model of balanced research and training dedication, which has placed it among the first five Spanish universities in terms of research outputs according to several domestic classifications, and derived in its international recognition in several rankings; for instance, it ranks 78th in 2019 from the World University (younger) Times Higher Education. The URV endorsed the European Charter for Researchers and Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers (Charter and Code) and was awarded the HR Excellence in Research logo. URV has strong links with other knowledge-generating agents of the South of Catalonia (40% of the URV Scientific production is made jointly with these innovation agents). The URV is a key actor in the Catalan implementation of the European Research and Innovation strategy for Smart Specialization (RIS3). The university is currently a beneficiary of some of the most important financing tools from the Catalan Regional EU funding program (RIS3CAT) in order to effectively transfer knowledge with high impact to the society. To maximize impact and strengthen international relations, URV is an active member of the AURORA network, a University network platform for European university leaders, administrators, academics, and students to learn from and with each other.

The URV Foundation is the entity created by the University Rovira i Virgili (URV) to strengthen the relationship between the university and society. It was created to identify and respond to the needs of the socio-economic environment through the transfer of knowledge, lifelong learning and innovation.

The foundation’s work is based on two pillars:
-The Technology and Knowledge Transfer and Innovation Centre
-The Lifelong Learning Centre

The URV Foundation maintains direct contacts with the productive and managerial framework as well as its knowledge network made up of research groups at the university, institutes and research centres, with more than a hundred research groups consisting of more than 900 researchers and extensive educational community with a broad scientific-technological offer and training to meet the needs of R+D+i and lifelong learning.

Xavier Cámara-Turull

Xavier Cámara-Turull

Associate Professor
Xavier Cámara-Turull is an Associate Professor in the Finance area at the Business Management Department of URV. His research interests lie in the fields of sustainability, sustainable finance, social entrepreneurship, capital structure, firm valuation and bankruptcy predictions. He is the head of the Business Management Department and the director of the Chair for Entrepreneurship and Business creation from URV. He has more than 10 years assessing and promoting the entrepreneurial ecosystem of South Catalonia and participating actively with key stakeholders and the society.
Mercedes Teruel

Mercedes Teruel

Associate Professor
Mercedes Teruel is an associate professor at the Department of Economics of Universitat Rovira i Virgili. Her research interests include firm growth, empirical industrial organization and innovation. She is the Director of the Chair for the Promotion of Firm Innovation and Coordinator of the Master in Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Her publications have appeared in the Small Business Economics, Research Policy, Growth and Change, Industrial and Corporate Change, Journal of Economic Behaviour and Organization and Economics of Innovation and New Technology. For more than 15 years, she has accumulated expertise in the promotion of economic development in South Catalonia with her leadership and participation in territorial knowledge transfer projects.

Xiaoni Li

Associate Professor
Xiaoni Li is an Associate Professor in the Finance area of the Business Management Department, the Faculty of Economics and Business of URV. Her research interests lie in the fields of sustainability, sustainable finance, social entrepreneurship and regional studies, SMEs, firm valuation and bankruptcy predictions. Her expertise is in the assessment of financial performance and viability analysis of companies.
M. Glòria Barberà-Mariné

M. Glòria Barberà-Mariné

Associate Professor
M. Glòria Barberà-Mariné is an Associate Professor in the Department of Business Management at the University Rovira i Virgili (Spain). Dean of the Faculty of Business and Economics at this University (2007-2015). Her research interests lie in the field of sustainability, sustainable finance, financial markets and decision-making in uncertainty. Likewise, in the last 10 years, she has led the implementation of the culture of quality evaluation in her organization and the university-company relationship to improve the employability of university students.
Rebeca Martín

Rebeca Martín

Technician
Rebeca Martín is a technician in the Chair of Entrepreneurship at the Universitat Rovira i Virgili. Additionally, she is a member of the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor group of the Basque Country and currently is finishing her doctorate in entrepreneurship in circular economy. Her research interest is focused on entrepreneurship in the circular economy and sustainable entrepreneurship. Moreover, she has more than 7 years of experience advising and supporting entrepreneurial projects in South Catalonia.
